Steps to expect
- Read the judgment notice carefully. The amount, interest terms and any payment arrangements appear on it; keep it with your case papers.
- Calendar the deadlines. Payment terms, appeal windows and satisfaction steps come from the court’s own post-judgment instructions.
- Confirm collection options with the court. States commonly publish their own forms and instructions; the court does not collect the money for you.
- Get records of payment. A receipt or a court-filed satisfaction shows the claim is paid and closed.
